Then there's the whole durability, holy shit I can't keep a single weapon from breaking after taking out 3-4 enemies which is how many are in each camp at these early parts of the game. The shit I had to do just to finally give up and use a guid to find the last shrine really cemented how much I dislike this big open world structure. I don't care how pretty this overworld is, it's too damn freaking big. Let me first say that I LOVED the short puzzle-y shrines, but what is turning me off so much is the open world structure. Right after putting more time into Breath of the Wild, and 2-3 hours into it I am beginning to dislike it. I should add that I had a lot of fun with the first part of the game, including starting over several times trying out different group-compositions, but that it simply did not hold up. By the end of the game I was so bored that I was using high resistances to just run across an entire level without regards for the layout, going straight after the dungeon boss.ĮDIT: This sounded more negative than I intended. The story-line is straight up dumb, and the ending rather unsatisfying. Encounters also get quite samey, and hubs are basically thin skins over the first hub that you enter. And there is a lot of combat! My wizard equivalent ended up doing most of the damage by the end of the game, since most creatures had high defense / resistance, and could heal the DOT attacks used by my other characters. This is not helped by the fact that one character slot is locked to the protagonist, whose skills are not that handy during combat. It was not well balanced when I played it, with one stat being mandatory when you leveled up, and some classes feeling useless in the end game.
